50's Sci-Fi Guitar
This guitar is going to be quite different than last year. This guitar is going to be a combination of inlay, multi-colored staining, and paint. We have a lot of cool surprises up our sleves, so keep checking in.
Where ever you see this symbol click on it to see video of the building process. And here is your first chance. Click the TV to see me introduce this project and get a chance to get involved on the design
The front is going to be a tribute to the original War of the World, from 1953 with Gene Barry, and Ann Robinson. If you've never seen this movie, it's worth renting. I will probably add some mountains and other background inlay later.
The back is going to be a tribute to Forbidden Planet from 1956 with Walter Pidgeon, Ann Francis, and in his first starring role, Leslie Neilson. This was the first appearence of the classic automated-man, Robbie the Robot, shown here carring Ann Francis as shown on the original movie poster.
And on the fretboard ... Invaders from Mars ... Artwork coming later
Prep work begins. Check out the three videos.
And the results ...
Inlay Begins ... Video coming soon.
The eye of the war machine is set deeper into the body of the guitar and then a clear piece of lexin (the stuff they make race car windows out of) is over the top of it, so it has a 3D look.
Inlay work on the back is done. Video coming soon.
Fretboard artwork mock up. Based on the movie Invaders from Mars, part of the planet Mars will be on the headstock.
Here is the finish inlay work on the fretboard. If the frets looks a little off, that is because they have not been press in yet. They are just set in there to make sure they fit right.
2 Part (2K),
Body has been stained up.
Thanks for joining us on this 50's Sci-Fi journey.
